Garage Door Safety Inspection - Bend, Redmond, Sisters OR
Garage doors are the heaviest moving object in most homes - 300 to 400 pounds of steel held up by springs under extreme tension. We check that your safety sensors actually work, the auto-reverse stops the door before it crushes something, springs aren't about to snap, and cables aren't fraying. Quick inspection, written report, peace of mind. Especially important if you've got kids or pets.

IMPORTANT: Federal safety standards (UL 325) require garage doors to have working photo-eye sensors and auto-reverse mechanisms. Doors without these features pose serious injury risk, especially to children and pets.

Real Reviews from Real Customers
These are actual customers — the same reviews you'll find on our Google Business page.
"With three kids running in and out of the garage, safety wasn't optional. The inspection found our sensors were misaligned and the auto-reverse was set way too strong. Fixed on the spot. Peace of mind is worth it."
"Bought a house built in 1985 - garage door had no safety sensors at all. They brought it up to current code with new sensors and tested everything. Inspector was happy, I was happy. One less thing to worry about."
"Our dog got too close to the closing door and it didn't reverse. Terrifying near-miss. Called for an inspection the next day. Turns out the sensor beam was blocked by a cobweb. Cleaned, tested, adjusted. Problem solved."
Garage Door Safety Inspection - Bend, Redmond, Sisters OR — Your Questions Answered
Answers from our licensed technicians based on the questions we hear most often
How often should I have a garage door safety inspection?
We recommend annual safety inspections for residential garage doors. If you have children, pets, or use the door frequently (10+ times daily), consider inspections every 6 months. Commercial doors should be inspected quarterly.
What do you check during a safety inspection?
We test photo-eye sensors, auto-reverse function, manual release, door balance, spring tension, cable condition, roller wear, track alignment, hardware tightness, and opener force settings. You'll receive a detailed safety report.
Are garage door safety inspections required by law in Oregon?
While not legally mandated for existing residential doors in Oregon, all new installations must meet UL 325 safety standards. We strongly recommend bringing older doors up to current safety standards to protect your family.
My door doesn't have photo-eye sensors — is that safe?
No. Photo-eye sensors have been required on all new installations since 1993 (UL 325 standard). If your door lacks them, it will close with full force on anything in its path — a serious risk for kids, pets, and anyone walking underneath. We can add sensors to most existing systems in about an hour.
How do I test if my auto-reverse is working?
Place a 2x4 board flat on the ground in the door's path and close the door. It should reverse immediately upon contact with the board. Also wave your foot through the photo-eye beam while closing — the door should stop and reverse. If either test fails, call us immediately. This is a serious safety hazard.
